HR Business Breakfast Employment Law in 2024 14 March 2024 | Katowice
We would like to invite you to another HR business breakfast. As always, we will take a closer look at important and pressing legal issues that employers, HR professionals, HR managers, lawyers in companies or those responsible for compliance face on a daily basis. The meeting will be held on 14 March 2024 at Vienna House Easy Hotel in Katowice.
During the meeting, we will discuss the topic of whistleblower protection, we will also take a closer look at the issue of non-competition and prohibition of additional employment in light of last year’s legislative changes, and we will talk about the possible course of criminal proceedings involving the employer when an employee is the (alleged) perpetrator of a crime.
The following matters will be discussed (without limitation):
- Whistleblower protection getting closer – how should employers get ready for implementation of the new whistleblower protection law? We will discuss the assumptions and changes in the latest bill and talk about ways to implement the new responsibilities, i.e. who will be responsible for what and why it is not only the HR Department that will be involved in the process (we will show useful tools and good practices).
- New or old agreements: non-competition, confidentiality and prohibition of additional employment – how can employers protect their interests? What does a retention agreement offer to employers? Can the cost of employee training under retention agreements be recovered? Is a former employee bound by the duty of confidentiality? We will take a look at practical aspects of retention agreements.
- Crimes under the scrutiny of HR – how to prepare for criminal proceedings involving an employee. We will talk about the most common crimes involving employees, the internal standards that should be adopted by companies, situations when employers are obliged to report incidents to law enforcement authorities, and aspects of liability for damage resulting from a crime committed by an employee.
The meeting will be hosted by Andersen’s experienced professionals: Kamil Kozioł, Adriana Wydziałkiewicz and Paweł Grzembka of the Employment Law Practice and Legal Compliance at Andersen Poland.
