European Employment Insights: May 2026 – Gender equality in Europe and recent developments in Polish labour law
We are delighted to present the May edition of the Andersen European Employment Insights newsletter, covering the most significant changes to employment law across 20 European countries.
In the latest instalment of Partner Spotlight, Francesca Capoferri and Uberto Percivalle (Andersen in Italy) discuss how attitudes towards gender equality are changing within European organisations and why this issue is increasingly becoming part of business strategy, ESG and corporate governance, rather than merely an HR policy.
The interview addresses, amongst other things, issues such as pay transparency, ESG reporting, women’s representation on boards, and the practical challenges involved in implementing new EU regulations within organisations operating across multiple European countries.
Poland – key insights:
- new rules on sick leave and extended monitoring powers for the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS)
- private recordings of conversations cannot form the basis for disciplinary dismissal
- proposed amendments to the regulations on the employment of foreign nationals
- the Act reforming the National Labour Inspectorate (PIP) has been signed by the President and referred to the Constitutional Tribunal
- incorrect information in medical records does not preclude an incident from being recognised as an accident at work
