European Partner Spotlight: Key labor law reforms in Slovakia
In this month’s spotlight, JUDr. Vladimír Grác, Partner at CLS Čavojský & Partners (collaborating firm of Andersen Global in Slovakia), discusses major reforms to Slovak labor legislation. Key developments include changes to the minimum wage calculation mechanism, the extension of higher-level collective bargaining agreements, and a new action plan to strengthen social dialogue and expand collective bargaining coverage.
Poland – key findings:
- Supreme Court: disciplinary dismissal cannot be based on practices formally prohibited but tacitly tolerated by the employer
- Draft amendment: broader use of electronic communication with employees and trade unions (monitoring, consultations, terminations, transfers)
- Proposed changes to employment tenure: new periods (self-employment, mandate/service contracts, agricultural work, childcare-related business suspension, work abroad) will count towards length of service from 1 January 2026
We hope you find this edition both practical and insightful. Given the number of changes in Poland, we invite you to consult the authors of the Polish section for further guidance or clarification: Magdalena Patryas and Maciej Pietrzycki.
