Prepared by Andersen’s team of experts across Europe, this issue provides a detailed overview of the latest developments in employment law, regulations, case law, and collective agreements in 18 countries.

European Partner Spotlight: Bosnia & Herzegovina

This month, we invite you to explore an interview with Sanja Đukić, Senior Partner at Law Firm Sajić in Bosnia and Herzegovina, discussing the country’s unprecedented increases in the minimum wage. The conversation highlights the impact on employers, the differing positions of unions and employer associations, early market responses, and ongoing discussions on job classifications, pay grades, and broader employee-protection reforms.

Poland – key findings:

  • Pre-retirement protection – The Supreme Court confirmed that protection against termination applies to fixed-term contracts, ensuring continued employment for individuals nearing retirement age.
  • Foreign workers – A fourfold increase in fees for work permits and declarations is planned, significantly raising the cost of employing foreign nationals.
  • E-contract system – Planned amendments will allow contracts concluded outside the system to be transferred into it and will enable digital execution of non-compete, training, and liability agreements.
  • Disciplinary proceedings – The Supreme Court held that disciplinary court should consider arguments presented by the labor court, especially when they may affect the assessment of employee misconduct.

We hope you find this edition both practical and insightful. If you have any further questions, you are very welcome to reach out to Magdalena Patryas as well as Magdalena Kuczyńska.
